The process of tissue embedding involves the following steps:

1. Tissue fixation: The first step is to fix the tissue samples using a fixative solution, such as formalin, to preserve cellular structures and prevent degradation.

2. Dehydration: The fixed tissue is then dehydrated through a series of alcohol solutions (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) to remove water content and make the tissue more compatible with the paraffin wax.

3. Tissue infiltration: The dehydrated tissue is placed in a mold containing molten paraffin wax. As the wax cools, it infiltrates the tissue, replacing the original water-based structure with a solid, stable matrix.

4. Embedding: Once the paraffin has hardened, the tissue block is removed from the mold and trimmed to a desired shape.

5. Sectioning: The tissue block is cut into thin slices using a microtome, and these sections can be stained and mounted on slides for further analysis, such as histochemical staining or immunohistochemistry.

Tissue embedding molds come in various shapes and sizes to accommodate different types of samples and techniques, such as blocks for whole mount preparations, cassette molds for standard sections, or cassette molds with compartments for multiple samples.
